The Sustainable and Inclusive Communities in Latin America (CISAL) Program is an initiative of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) that seeks to strengthen local governments in mining contexts of Colombia and Peru to achieve greater social benefits and sustainable economic opportunities for communities .
The program aims to increase the capacity of local governments to:
Plan a territorial vision in a participatory manner, improve dialogue and transparency between government, community and private companies.
Promote sustainable local economic development to provide better sustainable opportunities to populations living under vulnerable conditions.
Strengthen the exchange of lessons learned and best municipal practices to have stronger collaboration between local governments, central government, private sector, communities, academia and civil society organizations.
